| Success at the Head of the Cam |
|
The Club's women had a great day's rowing at the Head of the Cam on Saturday. The IM3 eight (above) swept home to victory in a stunning time of 10'46, even beating an IM2 women's crew. The only women's town crew that was faster in the event was the COWs boat (10'39) - and that included our very own Silvia and Maria, so more pots all round! The women's Novice 4+ had a great race, and only lost to the category winner by 19 secs. And the scratch (very scratch) women's Novice 8 were delighted to make second place in a hotly-contested category, finishing in 12'10. And let's not forget the men - the Hard Pressed 8 was the fastest Masters E boat, in a time of 10'33, and the Legends Novice 4+ clocked 11'19 (making it the fastest in its category; we won't mention that there was only one other contender). Our men's Masters B 4+ had an unfortunate encounter near the start line with a submerged object that surgically removed the rudder, so they had lots of practice cornering by oar power alone on the way back to the boathouse.
